House Frame Experiments and Tests, (MacDowell Colony, Vermont Studio Center, and Madison WI) 2009-2012

At the Vermont Studio Center, I attempt to build a house that turns into an abstract composition. The brightness of the snow becomes paper in the process of marking, erasing, and drawing again.  In the distance, the neighborhood houses stand in contrast to my failed construction. (These images are from a slideshow: “100 Abstract Compositions for Johnson, Vermont.)

A residency at the MacDowell Colony offered further room to experiment with structure and setting. And field tests in Madison WI were crucial in designing the final structures.
